Toronto’s favourite summer concert + picnic series conquered rainy weather warnings as the sun bucked up and came out for another brilliant instalment of Electric Island this past Canada Day. The music brought impeccable vibes to the island as a sea of red and white manifested across the grass, in celebration of Canada’s birthday. Honey Dijon’s heavy drops and building basslines swelled the crowd as people danced with beaming smiles. Apollonia played a fresh, unique set with building synth leads which compelled the audience, while maintaining impeccable flow between all three members. Tale Of Us delivered a beautiful techno symphony and Marcel Dettmann b2b Ben Klock brought Berghain techno to the island to close out the day.
Next up, The Civic Holiday long weekends rounds up a nice concoction of deep grooves and permitting techno from all around the world. Toronto native and No.19 co-founder Nitin makes his annual appearance this Civic Holiday delivering his unique deep tech. Berlin’s bright and wacky techno duo Andhim make their Electric Island debut- and you do NOT want to miss this. Israeli techno visionary Guy Gerber and Rumors lead-man, returns for another magical music experience on Toronto’s Island. Brazil’s most refined electronic music producer Gui Boratto also experiences his first Electric Island, and is without a doubt the most anticipated artist to play this summer. Lastly, one of electronic music’s most notable players for unleashing musical nostalgia and infinite beauty, Berlin’s own Paul Kalkbrenner plays a live set.
