After over two years of tunes, Acoustic Addiction is taking on it’s biggest venue yet, the legendary El Mocambo. We are all very excited to be playing here! The El Mocambo has been a staple of Toronto’s music scene for well over 100 years, hosting some of the biggest name bands of all time (The Rolling Stones, U2, Stevie Ray Vaughn, The Ramones, The Guess Who, and many many more).
Gracing the stage this time will be:
Jack Walker has become a staple of Acoustic Addiction, and the showcase’s most regularly featured performer. Jack has been performing for the past 8 years and has played some of Toronto’s biggest stages to show for it. With a repertoire consisting of original traditional folk music, upbeat singer/songwriter and some creative covers, Jack’s catchy melodies and sincere voice are always a crowd pleaser on whatever stage he may find himself.
Dylan Hennessy is a Toronto-based singer/songwriter whose passion for the art has lead him to take on music as a career. As a graduate of Seneca College’s “Independent Music Production” program, he is a versatile musician, spanning an array of instruments in a variety of genres, with his show consisting of a combination of thoughtful ballads and “Folk with a technical edge and some attitude”. He’s now been featured in NXNE showcases for the last two years. He tries to incorporate as much influence from as many styles as he can into his own creations, with elements of soul, folk, and unconventional guitar playing, creating what Dylan calls an “acoustic variety act”. His Debut 6-song EP was released November 16th 2013. You can find additional material on his YouTube page.
20 year-old singer/songwriter Samara York is a breath of fresh air to the Canadian music scene. With a soulful, bluesy voice and a unique, edgy rock sound, Samara creates a fresh new genre with every song she writes. An incredibly experienced performer, Samara has been playing live around Ontario with her 3-piece back-up band for almost 3 years, and performing solo for 10 years before that. Having won 2 battle-of-the-band style competitions, 2 talent shows, and multiple vocal excellence awards, Samara’s live show is like no other — and she is only just getting started.
And our incredible headliner…
THE JESSICA STUART FEW:
Signature songwriting, stunning 3-part harmonies and an unprecedented take on the Japanese koto (13-stringed harp) have landed The JSFew on festival stages in North America, Europe, Australia, Asia and on the Top 40 charts in Japan. Critically acclaimed, the band’s latest release Two Sides To Every Story won ‘Best Album’ in the 2014 international Independent Music Awards, and was dubbed, “endlessly charismatic” by The Globe & Mail.
“Amazingly charming” – Canadian Guitar Icon, Don Ross
“Different, and shockingly good.”, Roots Music Canada
This seriously has to be one of the best lineups we’ve had in the history of Acoustic Addiction, at one of the oldest and most historical venues in the city. You’ll really not want to miss this one. The El Mocambo will stay open later into the night to keep the party going!
