March 20 to 22, Creators’ Lounge went for the first time to Toronto ComiCon at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. Over 30,000 fans of comics, Sci-Fi, Anime, pop-culture, horror and gaming, gathered during the 3-day packed with exciting family-friends activities and celebrities. This year, you could have the chance to meet and greet, Karen Gillan (Doctor Who, Guardians of the Galaxy), Morena Baccarin (Firefly, Homeland, V), Chad Coleman (The Walking Dead), J. August Richards (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Angel) and more!

That’s was definitely an incredible experience for us. We were not even arrived at Union station and we could already see cosplayers wearing the costumes of their favorite heroes. Spiderman and green lantern were escorting us from the station to the convention center.
At the entrance more Spidermen were waiting for us posing in group in front of excited fans. Suddenly my attention was caught by sexy female cosplayers revealing their charms besides the escalator leading to the main hall: Wonder woman, Deadpool and Thor girl version…. And to my great surprise a group of maids waiting probably for their Master. And what…More anime characters!!!??

At that very moment I understood what was Toronto ComiCon about. It wasn’t just the celebration of the North American Pop Culture. That was a way bigger than that. It was the celebration of the pop culture in North America. I would even say that is a huge gathering for the celebration of LOVE.
Arriving to the vendors alley I was surprise to see that everything you could dream of, needs and possibly imagine as a fan of comics or even manga was there: Collector apparel, comics, weapon, accessories, posters and more…
A pop culture heaven where every people from all ages could enjoy. In that we’re definitely all kids. And it is touching to witness how the passion for this universe of fantasy can be passed from one generation to another.

But the reason why Creators’ Lounge went there was to meet all the amazing indies artists in the artists alley. And when I say “amazing” it is just because I don’t have enough vocabulary to describe how wonderful they were. Painters, illustrators, sculptors, creators of all kind from all over Canada and North America was there to sell and showcase their work and project. We met over 100 of them. I had the chance to attend twice New York Comic Con as a guest speaker, as well as Montreal Comic con. And to be honest the Artists Alley of Toronto Comicon is the one who impressed me the most with all its incredible talents.

Toronto Comicon is definitely an event that Creators’ Lounge recommends to all fans of pop culture. That is the perfect place to make new friends while enjoying or discovering pop culture universe from North America or Japan.
For creators, that’s for sure the place to be to get in touch with potential customers, build a fan base, get business opportunities and have a lot of fun. That an event where passion, love and sharing transcend arts and all the borders.
